JENSEN ACKLES SOLO PANEL | JIBCON 2023 (JUNE 17, 2023)
Jensen was headbanging to Smells Like Teen Spirit with Jason, then mentioned that he has that "writer‘s strike hair flow". (
jensen will be at the monday concert (
‘Take the guitar away, I’ll just sing on Monday!’ (
Monday‘s band will be called "No Rob". (
Jensen has always wanted to go to Brazil. But when he finally got there, they had so much work to do that he had to stay in the hotel and he never left. He didn’t get to meet locals or see anything. In his mind he hasn’t been there yet. (
His prep for Beau Arlen & Ben? Since he didn’t have the history he had with Dean, he had to dig into personal feelings. (
Jensen has a major short term memory to learn lines but his long term memory isn’t as good. He has intense scenes and then purges the feelings. (
As Beau, he took what he’d feel if the things were happening to his daughter and then tailored it a bit. A lot of Dean was him. As Soldier Boy, for the scene with Butcher about his dad, he dove into Dean and John, because he has a good relationship with his dad. (
And in the end he just pretended. Some people can do it and some can’t. Some can paint, some can write, some can do Math. He can’t draw a stick figure, but he can *play* (
Dean and Soldier Boy were both just looking for their father’s approval. Jensen jokes that he wondered if he was being type cast. Ben had an opportunity to make it better with his son & grandson, but in the end he reverted back to his DNA. (
jensen said that for emotional scene he filmed for soldier boy (about soldier boy's father) he leaned into dean's relationship with john (because jensen has good rs with his own father) ( he joked about getting type casted for characters with basically daddy issues (
Jensen and Jared have both been invited to Hot Ones and wanted to do it years ago, but they couldn’t work it out. And now they have stars so big, he probably won’t get invited anymore. (
someone asked about the rumors about batman and jensen was like “i don’t know” “even i know about it i’m not telling you” and he started laugh. (
What about being in a top 3 list to play Batman? He doesn’t know, but even if he would know, he wouldn’t tell us. Could he do it? Sure. Does he want to? Yes. (
‘When I’m Batman, does my voice have to be… much different?’ (
Musical interruption. Jensen is confused and wants to keep answering questions. (
The music indicated that he had to spin the wheel. It lands on “drink” and he hugs the wheel, “it’s like it knows me”. He doesn’t actually pour one though but goes back to answering. (
There were many scenes surrounding the Impala where Jensen had to become Dean and he’d yell at the team when they were driving it or when Jared banged against the car or fart in it. “Not on the seat, she’s been through enough.” So he knew he had to own the car. (
One of his old friends got offered Eric Brady on DooL and he called Jensen before accepting. Jensen said “great, knock it out of the park.” (
Apparently Mr Rhodes, his first job, was a multicamera sitcom. It was the best schedule he’s been on so far. Soap Opera is next because they have 40+ actors. They will shoot all 80 pages his character has consecutively, shoot an hour or two. They produce one episode in 1hr (
You start by 9 am and get a few short breaks, end of the day, 7:30 pm, 80 pages done and he can go home. Daytime actors don’t get enough credit for having to jam in so much story in a short time. On The Boys they get 15 days for 1 episode. (8 on SPN). (
One of the actresses on DooL told him first day „hit your mark, say your lines, stay out of my light“. He said „yes ma’am“, earned her respect and she took care of him big time later. (
When he went to lunch with Alison Sweeney, who played his evil twin sister, she got heckled and Jensen defended her immediately. She told him to stop because if people hate her, that means she‘s doing her job. (
Rich tells us that Jensen is a sitcom and he has his own catchphrase. He plays Jensen entering the set at morning or any room late. "What are we doing?" He has developed a special greeting with Richard out of it. (
ensen spend several birthdays in Brad Creasser‘s house, with his wife cooking him dinner. He‘s a good friend of Richard‘s too. Rich acts out a scene on set one day and Jensen is in tears. (
When Jensen walked on set of Big Sky, he also went "What are we doing?" Nobody answered, so he repeated it louder. (

JENSEN JUST SAID BUONGIORNO AND HE TRIED TO SAY BUON POMERIGGIO AND NOW HE’S REPEATING MARSUPIO IN A PERFECT ACCENT (
The monitor lighting is super bad and Jensen noticed. 😬 “I look like I’m wearing lipstick and you look like Rudolph.” (
Q: “What was the worst moment being tied up. On set.” Jensen cracked up. On the set of SPN, Robin tied them up very loosely. On the set of The Boys he wasn’t friendly with the props department yet and they really tied him down for the torture scene on the table. ( Especially when they pushed the gun in his mouth and came close with a moving drill Jensen really didn’t like it but couldn’t move. (
Jensen’s first job was at his uncle’s moving company. (
When Jensen was younger, he thought people at his current age had it all figured out. They were the adults. But he still doesn’t feel like an adult but like that 20yr old in an older suit. (
The other day Jensen sat down and looked at his knees saying “I’m proud of you guys. You hung in there, you still carry me. You don’t hurt.” He got xrays back when he was training for the marathon, but they looked great, he just had some inflammation in the joints. (
Jensen has swum in a mermaid tail. His daughter bought one, thinking it was kid‘s size, but it was for adults. So he jumped in the pool with it. (

Question: Well, this is probably way too specific a question to ask in the morning, but spare me. So this is about episode seventeen in season fifteen -
Jared: Oh, I love that one! [makes comically unsure face][fakes reaching for phone] Let me Google.
Question: There is a very emotional scene where Dean is trying to go kill Chuck and Sam tries to stop him and Dean pulls a gun on him. And at some point, Dean says that he would trade anything to kill Chuck and Sam asks, ‘Would you trade me?’
Jared: Yeah.
Question: And do you think Sam actually believed that Dean would shoot him to be able to kill Chuck and get his freedom?
Jared: Not for a second. No, I think it’s, it’s - you know, both brothers have been so, like, tunnel vision? That whether Dean has tunnel vision and Sam has to [snaps] do something to pull him out when he’s not listening, or Sam has tunnel vision and Dean has to do something to pull him out. I mean, it was kind of a flip side of Sacrifice, at the end of season eight. Where Sam was like, I have this thing, I have to do it, I have to do it, it can only be me, I’m gonna do it right now, and Dean like had to go like, wait wait wait wait! It’s almost like the equivalent of slapping somebody on the cheek or giving them smelling salts or something to get them out of - you do it with dogs, like you clap, and they’re like, 'Oh, oh, what was I doing?’ And so I think Sam knew that this was gonna [finger quotes] wake Dean up. You know? I don’t think he ever thought that Dean would ever shoot him.

Question: I really love the chemistry between you and Jensen and I wonder if you had the opportunity to play another character in another show or a movie with Jensen, what would it be?
Jared: I wanna play his older brother. [audience laughs] Let’s see how that works. I would - I loved working with Jensen, obviously, we did it for so long. [to staff giving him a fan, I think] Thank you so much. I just had a coffee, not good timing. Yeah, I loved working with him, I would love to work with him again, and I am certain I will work with him again. I’d like to play his little brother again as well on a show, well [finger quotes] younger brother, not little. But, uh, yeah. We kinda joked - he’s been very busy, obviously? But we joked about him being on Walker in some capacity, where we have that, like, Maverick moment of like, [double take] ‘What? Weird.’ So I think that would be fun honestly because we’ve shared a screen so much. We got to do, as a lot of y'all know, we got to do a lot. He was Michael when I was Sam, I was Lucifer when he was Dean, I was possessed, he was shapeshifting - so we got to play a lot of dynamics, I loved them all. Yeah, we’ll share a screen again.

Question: I love the episode where The Trickster puts Dean and Sam in different tv shows, and is there a tv show you would like to be in. For example, I would love to see you in the Youtube talk show Hot Ones were you get and eat extremely spicy chicken wings? I would love to see how far you come.
Jensen: [nonverbally reacts to last line] Uh… I have said for several years now, before the show got big?
Question: You know it?
Jensen: Oh! When Hot Ones was just a Youtube show, and nobody had heard of it and they were having, like, random people on it? I was like - Jared and I - we were still shooting Supernatural, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, we’ve gotta do this show!’ And they invited us both to come on the show. And we couldn’t work it out with production.
Audience: Aww.
Jensen: But now the show’s so popular that, like, major A list movie stars are doing it, I don’t think they’re gonna have us on anymore. But I will say that the guy, oh, what’s his name -
Question: Sean Evans?
Jensen: Sean! I will say that Sean - so Jeff, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was, he did an episode during COVID. And so he had to do it via Zoom, but I was talking to Jeff about it and I was like, 'Dude, you did Hot Ones! I’m so jealous.’ And he was like, 'Are you serious? You wanna do that show?’ I was like, 'I would LOVE to do that show. I wanna do that show so bad!’ And he’s like, 'Sean loves Supernatural, like, he would totally have you guys on.’ I’m like, 'Really?!’ And then I started watching the show and I was like - Oh, well, like Charlize Theron is doing it. And there’s just too many big names, who was the latest person - there’s like huge names that do it now.
Question: Yeah, yeah, really huge names. Pedro Pascal -
Jensen: Alright, enough with Pedro Pascal, alright! I’ve had about enough of Pedro Pascal. The guy is - he’s too awesome, and I wanna be him. Did you guys watch This is Us - or The Last of Us? This is Us [laughs at himself] - good show, though. Shout out to Sterling and my boy Justin. Yeah, The Last of Us, so that started floating around Hollywood a couple of years ago, and I was like, 'Alright, who do I have to kill to get this role?’
Audience member: Pedro Pascal!
Jensen: [nods] And it became very clear … that his name was Pedro Pascal. And because I am a law abiding citizen, I did not kill him. And instead I watched The Last of Us on my iPad, with hate in my eyes.
Audience member: Did you take a selfie?
Jensen: What?
Audience member: Of the hate!
Jensen: All the hate?
Audience member: Did you take a picture of the hate in your eyes?
Jensen: Oh, did I take a picture, did I take a selfie of the hate in my eyes? No, but I can show it to you right now. It looked a little something like this [goes through an extended series of facial expressions flat/annoyed/enjoyment/flat/enjoyment/etc.]
Audience member: What just happened?
Jensen: What just happened? I enjoyed his performance and I got mad at myself, that’s what happened. That’s what that looks like. God bless you, Pedro, you’re killin it. Good for ya. But that’s the thing, too, in this industry - am I jealous? Mmm. Yeah. Envious? Sure. But I’m also really happy for him. Like, good for him. He’s killing it right now, that’s so great. And I think that that’s a really cool thing about this industry is that I think the people that really get it, they aren’t upset if they’re not getting a role. They’re happy for the person that gets to succeed, because there’s always going to be different stories, there’s always going to be other roles. But, you know, sure would I have loved to play that role? Yeah. But I would have done it much differently, and it wouldn’t have been what it turned out to be and I think it turned out to be really great. And so for that I’m - I’ll just keep my eyes out for the next one, you know?

Question: I wanted to ask you about emotional scenes. When you were filming Supernatural, you said that initially you had to think of something that made you sad and then once you keyed into Dean, and Dean became you and you became Dean, it was easier to act his feelings because they were your feelings. So when you took on Beau Arlen, that you haven’t done for fifteen years, or even a year, and Ben, Soldier Boy, how did you - did you go back to basics and start thinking again about sad moments in your life to help the scene or were you able to key in a lot quicker this time because you’re more experienced?
Jensen: Hmm, that’s a really good question. Yeah, very perceptive in the fact that I didn’t have all of those years with those characters, but there were emotional scenes - much, I would say there was probably more of an emotional, humanistical emotions - [Jensen gets distracted by a commotion in the audience] All right, calm down. Okay, thank you, where’s the prayer bowl, let’s - I’ll, get, there’s a story that they’re all referencing right now that I told in the Meet & Greet. Yep, see, this is … great. Okay, I’ll get to that in a second. Siddown! I didn’t have that history with the characters so I did kind of have to dig into personal feelings. I’ll speak about Beau first, cause I’m actually trying to think of what would the emotional scene with Soldier Boy, and I don’t know - I don’t know that there was one?
Question: There is.
Jensen: Which one?
Question: The one where he’s with Butcher and is telling the story about his father -
Jensen: Oh! About his father, sure.
Question: That broke my heart, so.
Jensen: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, I have an interesting, that actually, now that you bring that up - ‘cause see, these things [sigh]. This is the thing about being an actor is my long term memory has been shoved aside a little bit to make room for the short term memory of memorizing lines? So I have intense, there’s an intensity in the short term memorization that I have in bringing that to life, and then once I do that, I kinda just … purge it, and like, let it go. And I don’t know, I’m sure there’s a psychologist in here that could analyze that and tell me why I do that, I don’t know why I do that, but I do it. So we’ll go back to, we’ll go to Beau first, and I’m guessing you’re talking about the scenes when he’s talking about his daughter?
Question: Yeah, or also when he’s interrogating Avery, and you see the change from sort of like anger and resentment - it’s not an emotional scene in the sense that he’s crying, but it’s really really intense.
Jensen: Right. So that all stems from my - basically I dive into what would I do as a father in this situation. And then how can I relate that to this character. And so I take what I think I know and how I think I would react and then I put that into this character’s hands and kinda just tailor it a little bit, and then that’s what you see. So even with Dean, you know, the vast majority of Dean? Is me. I just tailored it to tell the story through this character’s eyes, but I wasn’t trained professionally, I didn’t go to school for this, I didn’t learn methods, I didn’t learn how to separate myself from the character. I basically find what relates to me as a person, within the story, within the character, I extrapolate on that and then I apply it to the character. Same thing really with Soldier Boy. In fact, what I was getting to is that scene, I thought a little bit about - because I have a good relationship with my father - so I had to dive a little bit into something that I was familiar with that maybe didn’t, and that was Dean. So I kind of dived into a little bit of Dean and John relationship, even though Dean loves his father and idolized his father for many many years, but there - it was a strained relationship. And at the end of the day, I just pretended. [laughs] 'Cause that’s essentially what acting is, you try to find the most honest emotion that you can muster up within yourself, you try to identify that, you try to portray that within this character in order to tell the story. And it’s - some people can do it and some people can’t. It’s like some people can … write amazingly, some people can do math amazingly, some people can sing, some people can create - paint. I can’t paint, I can’t draw worth a lick. I mean, I’m lucky to get a stick figure that looks remotely well. But there are some people that just see it and can - and I just, for some reason - you guys seen that movie Good Will Hunting? When he talks about how he can math? He’s like, Beethoven could just see the piano and he could play. And I’m not saying that I’m Beethoven as far as acting goes, by any means. But I can play. And so I try to play as much as I possibly can, and that’s using what I have in my life, using what I think would be the right emotion, and then I just expand on that.
Question: Ben is just a little boy searching for his father’s approval. At the end of the day, which is kind of what Dean was -
Jensen: 100%. Absolutely. So I was able - I’m like, hmm, am I getting typecasted here? Is this? But no, you’re absolutely right and so there was some, there was a core relation there between Dean and Soldier Boy and that’s why I thought it was such a fantastic plot twist when Soldier Boy was, like, given this opportunity to have a son and a grandson and change that. But then he reverts to his DNA and becomes what he always hated -
Question: What his father was.
Jensen: What his father was, yeah. And that’s just great writing, but it’s also really fun to take that character on that journey. And then it’s just, you know, it’s just pretending. It’s painting with a paintbrush that I know how to paint with.

Question: I just started watching Supernatural with - my brothers got me watching Supernatural from its first season onwards. And when he heard that I was finally going to a Supernatural convention he even gave me a Supernatural necklace replica just like Sam and Dean on the show. And I just - one of the things that we both love about the show is that you both give very convincingly throughout the entirety of the show - always, you know, portrayed brothers in a believable way and an inspiring way? And you managed to go the distance over fifteen seasons and even in the last season you’re still completely believable as brothers. And meeting you in real life, you seem that way offscreen as well. I’m wondering about, my question is, what is the secret that’s kept you managing to do that over such a long period of time in a show? Because you hear in other shows people not getting along, getting tired of each other, but you did it all the way through, and I just wonder what is the secret to that?
Jared: Goddamn, thank you. I love that question. That’s possibly a version of my favorite question that could ever be asked about Supernatural. I think - and you’re talking about you have two brothers?
Question: Well, I have a brother and a half-brother.
Jared: Okay, okay.
Question: My real brother [?] is a Supernatural fan, so.
Jared: I think - all I can say is - well, not all I can say. The main thing I can say, is that whatever you see on camera? Though Jensen and I were playing Sam and Dean Winchester? Jensen and I weren’t faking shit. It was real to us, and it was and still is an amazing life lesson, that you get out of something what you put into it. You know? If you half-ass something, whether it’s a friendship or a marriage or a profession or a diet or an exercise regime? You’re gonna get half-ass results. If you just kind of go, fuck it, I’m all in and if I get hurt, I get hurt and I’ll abandon ship and do something else. But he and I went all in, like I think sometime during the Pilot, and I wish I - maybe I can think about it, about when that moment happened? But I think Jensen and I both just went like [snaps fingers] you know what, this is found family - could be found family. Maybe Jensen turns out to be an asshole, maybe I turn out to be an asshole. And if that happens, then I can reverse and put my guards back up and be like [makes pushing away gesture] okay, this guy’s a jerk, or vice versa, he can say this guy’s a jerk about me. But he and I both just kinda went alright, I’m gonna trust you and he went, alright I’m gonna trust you. We didn’t say the words, but we just kinda had that communication nonverbal and went after it. And I to this day love the guy like a brother and, you know, there are ups and downs, you know? Someone goes through something in their life and I’ll speak to myself, sometimes when I’m super stressed out, I can be a little hurt, a little, maybe, caustic? A little snarky or sarcastic or something? And your buddies around you - my buddies around me, rather, kinda have to be like, ‘Hey, you’re kinda being a dickhead, man. Like, you alright?’ And I have to go, 'No, I’m not alright, I’m going through this -’ But like having that trust? And I think Jensen and I found that, I know Jensen and I found that with Supernatural, with Sam and Dean. And I love their relationship, like I want that for my two sons. I don’t want the rebar, but [audience laughs]. I want them to just rely on each other. I heard a great quote, and maybe there are some parents out there as well, or people who have parents? Which I think is most of us in my understanding of - anyways. It was a quote, I’m gonna bastardize it, “Parents leave us too soon, children - we’re not around long enough for our children, siblings are the ones we go through life with.” And I think siblings can mean anything. If you’re an only child, it’s your friend, it’s your buddy - like you need a partner, you need two people in that rowboat. It doesn’t need to be somebody who’s there every day, but like somebody you can just go, like, hey I’m feeling like this. Not agree with all the time, like, life is not about agreement, otherwise why go through life if you’re not gonna learn, if everything you say is right. So I think we just trusted each other, and I don’t know why, but, you know, we held each other’s careers in each other’s hands. And we’re like, alright, I got you, you got me? Yeah, I got you, you got me? Yeah, alright. Let’s work it and get it to work. But I love that you and your one and a half siblings, two-ish, I’m assuming, put you here today. So thanks a bunch, it was nice to meet you, man.

Question: You’ve always got perfect hair, off and on set. It just makes me wonder, like, do you get your hair permed?
Jared: [laughs] Well, thank you, Natalie. You have great hair as well, I’m jealous. I don’t get permed, I - here’s a funny story for all y'all out there, who care. This morning - so my hair now, sorry [takes beanie off, shakes out hair][audience cheers] - like, it’s very long but I haven’t had it - so we finished Walker season three, uh? Three days after the last jibcon in the end of February. And I haven’t had a hair cut since then, and I haven’t had a hair dye since then, so I’ve got some whites growing out and stuff like that. ‘Cause we’ve been wrapped, and so I don’t know how - I’ve had long hair before, obviously? But I don’t know - this is a short hair haircut that’s grown out? And so I don’t know how to do it. And so we got to the green room today and I went to Ackles and I was like, 'Ackles, I’m fucked man. I don’t have - like I have hair products for short hair now, I don’t know what to do. And I don’t want to wear my beanie just all day long cause that’s kinda mean.’ And so he’s like, 'I might have something.’ Ackles saved my ass as Dean saved Sam’s ass many times and gave me some stuff. [audience cheers] Yeah. [claps]
Question: So do you use conditioner?
Jared: Conditioner? Today I used the shampoo in the hotel. Woo?

Question: Yeah, ‘cause we didn’t want it to end. We were like waiting - so we’re still in denial -
Jared: That’s in Africa. De Nile is in Africa. [shakes head at himself]
Question: I was wondering, why do you think that Sam only had one son considering his bond with Dean?
Jared: Sam only had one son that he knew of. [ostentatious wink, strokes hair through beanie][audience cheers][Jared starts and stops a few times without getting any full words out] I think, I think Sam did all right? [makes comically unsure face] Here’s why Sam had one son - in my opinion. When Sam and Dean were both alive, Sam had a questionable history? As far as success and failures go with loved ones, so to speak? You know, your first love is on fire on the ceiling, your next is a werewolf you shoot in the head, your next is a demon that makes you start the Apocalypse - but she’s okay. [laughs]
Question: We all love her, too.
Jared: Hey, back off! Back off! So I think Sam had a child that was a boy and it was obviously Dean. And he tried to not mess it up. I do truly believe that we’ll see Sam and Dean ride again in the version of Sam and Dean that are played by Jensen and Jared or Jared and Jensen? [audience cheers] But in the meantime, I think Sam thought you know, I’ve been through enough. This kid’s healthy - you know, ten fingers ten toes - I’m gonna honor my brother. So that’s where he went. Thank you, so sorry you just watched the last episodes.

Question: I was wondering - and maybe you can answer for Jensen, too - do you sometimes drive around in Little Bro and Jensen in Big Bro or do they just mostly stay in the garage?
Jared: Oh, good question! So I’ll answer for Jared first, Baby Bro is in my garage in Austin, next to the - from French Mistake? The picture of me on a horse [poses]. I swear to God. I gotta take a picture and tweet it. So we both had the Impalas being restored? And mine got finished first, but it’s not registered yet in America so it’s still a [finger quotes] Canadian vehicle? Which is weird, ‘cause it was born in America in Detroit, then got registered in Canada, and then it’s back in America so I have to get it registered to drive it. But we will certainly go road trip. And now I’ll answer as Jensen [sucks in his cheeks, clears throat, puts on fake deep voice] I just, I love Baby.

Jensen: [points to question asker] I have.
Audience: Oooh!
Question: Whaaaat?
Question & Jared: Do tell!
Jensen: No.
Question: Pretty please?
Jensen: Uh, my daughter bought one that was - she, we thought it was a kid’s size, but it was an adult size when we got it home. It was like, this is gigantic! You could fit your whole body in here! I was like, wait a minute, this is an adult size. And, I dunno, you just - I did what dads would do! Put it on, jumped in the pool.
Audience: [cheers]
Jared: [claps]
Question: How was it?
Jensen: I was a mer-man!
Jared: [holds up hands] [says ??? too far from mic] -
Jensen: Merman! [laughs]
Jared: That’s amazing.
Jensen: Uh, it was interesting.
Audience member: Pictures!
Jensen: What? Pictures? No. Um, no. [to question asker] Now I just, I just read somewhere that the mermaid - there’s an industry that is, like, multi-million dollar industry of live -
Jared: Merpeople?
Jensen: merpeople. Right?
Question: Yeah, there’s a new Netflix special about that.
Jensen: That’s what it was! It was a - yeah, I read it was some sort of documentary coming out that was chronicling this multi-million dollar industry of mermaids.
Jared: Sure.
Jensen: And it showed this clip of this one woman coming out of - and she was all out of breath and the person was like, ‘Okay, hypothermia creeped up on you, you were too into character.’ and she’s like, 'Yeah. Yeah, I was.’ [Jared makes fascinated astonished expression] And I was like, 'Well, I’m watchin this!’ Yeah!
Jared: That’s fascinating.
Jensen: So to answer your question, yes, that one time I did. Do I have a desire to do it again? Not so much. It did feel weird, not gonna lie. But I will say that I got across the pool [makes waving fin swimming motion with hand] really quickly.
Jared: Were you locked into one fin?
Jensen: Yep, it’s basically just a giant fin [snaps legs together, lifts them up to demonstrate]. Which, they have those monofins?
Question: The monofins, yeah.
Jensen: Ha! I even got the terminology down! Merman! Uh, yeah, you don’t have to put the glittery, scaly thing on, but you can -
Jared: Can you just put the glittery, scaly thing on?
Jensen: Yes, but -
Question: No, that’s dangerous.
Jensen: I think they call it a dress. And you can [pats Jared’s leg].
Jared: [fist pumps exaggeratedly]
Jensen: Yeah, that’s all I got.
Jared: I would love to! I - I’m so curious because Gen and I took the kids after their school year ended to Mexico. And where we stayed had a gift shop? And there was a mermaid thing, but it was I think legit kid-sized. Odette hasn’t used it yet, but she really wanted the mermaid fin. And so we bought it for her, but I - it induced panic in me? I was like, well, if you lock her feet in together, that takes a certain [makes hand motion] level of coordination?
Jensen: Get the - they literally have, like, dive shops and stuff, instead of just regular flippers?
Jared: Yeah?
Jensen: They have a monofin that you just slide your feet in, you don’t do have to do the whole thing [gestures up legs]. And it’s crazy how fast you can go.
Jared: I’ll give it a shot. Alright, I’ll give it a shot.
Jensen: It feels weird, because you’re, you know, you’re used to doing this [uses hand to mime swimming with kicking] but to do like [mimes fin motion again] -
Jared: I feel like I’d be scared, like I’d feel like I was drowning.
Jensen: [incredulous] Scared?
Jared: I don’t know.
Jensen: Come up for air!
Jared: I can’t! My feet are locked.
Jensen: You don’t need your feet to breathe!
Jared: It’s like Houdini! Like the Houdini chains.
Jensen: Jared’s been down a long time - wait, oh, nope, there’s his toe [points] he’s breathing fine.
Jared: I’m tall, so my toe [kicks leg up] reaches out. I’ll watch that documentary, that’s amazing. Thank you.
Question: Thank you.
Jared: Of course.
Jensen: Is that it, are we getting pulled?
Jared: We’re getting pulled.
Jensen: Alright, apparently we’ve got a merman film in the back, so we’re getting pulled -
Jared: A merman film and some photos -
Jensen: [to questioner] Are you gonna do some more photos in that thing?
Question: Of course.
Jensen: Yeah.
Jared: Amazing.
Jensen: Yeah, it’s legit. Alright guys, thank you all very much, we’ll see you in a bit.
Jared: Thank y'all.

Question: Hi, my question is do you miss the pranks?
Jared: I miss everything.
Audience: Awww.
Jared: I do! But it’s - I get it, there’s certainly a bit of ‘awww’. But in a funny way he and I had some version of this conversation for years before Supernatural aired its final episode. It’s one of those absence makes the heart grow fonder? [Jensen nods] And to leave something as it stood that we were so proud of, and want more of? There’s a certain romance to it. You know, it’s like if you’re a kid and you go to camp or something and it’s five days, but you make new friends and you’re gonna be best friends forever and then you go your separate ways. But you’re so much better for having had it, and the idea that maybe it can happen again [pauses to look pointedly at the audience]. Which I, anyways -[starts to say something to Jensen, stops, realizing he forgot to take mic away] oh shit, I thought -
Jensen: [laughs] You can’t tell me a secret like this [holds up hand next to mic] and not take the mic away! Tell me later.
Jared: I will. I miss it all, but I don’t miss - it’s not, it’s not painful for me? It’s like a really, in a strange way, because I’m very nostalgic? I have shit that I should have thrown away years ago [points at Jensen] he can vouch for it. [Jensen nods and rolls his eyes] Whether it’s clothing or call sheets, so I miss it but in a very wonderful light. And hopefully we get to, you know -
Jensen: I’ll say I’ll never be happy that it … ended, that the show came to an end. I’m not, you know, 'Thank God that’s over!’ I’ll never feel that way. But I am very content in how it came to, like, that we did those fifteen years and that we ended - and I’m not talking story, I’m talking the way that we were - like you said pranks, so I’m thinking about, outside of the way the story - the way that we all walked away with our heads held high and you know, there was so much love within that set, that’s something I’ll always be very proud of? And something I will always miss. Yeah, I miss the pranks, I miss just walking on set in the morning and saying hi to everybody. I miss getting breakfast at The Green Machine. I miss going into the hair and makeup trailer and saying hi to all the ladies and - I miss it all, there’s so much, I mean, it’s a long list of things that I miss doing that I did for many many years. But it juststill makes me look back on it and it makes me that much more proud of what we did and that time we had together because it will always make me smile.

Question: So my question for you guys is what do you think would happen if blood junkie Sam and demon Dean met?
Jared: They’d be like, ‘You’re fucked up? Cool, I am too.’ They might go party. [laughs][explaining to Jensen] Blood junkie Sam and demon Dean. That’s a good question, we’ve never had this question [Jensen laughs]. Blood junkie Sam and demon Dean, I - my instinct is that they would kinda be like, 'Alright, well, I’m a little off-kilter, you’re a little off-kilter, too, let’s go party.’ [both laugh] I got your back. It feels like it’d be the same thing of Dean kinda befriending Benny in Purgatory? I feel like they’d get along, strangely.
Jensen: Yeah, they’d probably, they’d probably cause some problems for a lot of - for hunters. Other hunters, they would cause a lot of problems for them. They’d be having - I mean, with demon Dean, when he was left to his own devices, he was causing issues, so I think if he had a partner in crime? Like [laughs] blood junkie Sam? Then I think it would just, uh, multiply that, so yeah.
Jared: But I think demon Dean and rebar Sam wouldn’t get along. [Jensen nods] Too soon? [Jensen laughs] Thank you for your question.

Question: So, uh, Jensen, I think you once said that you don’t like to be tied up - on set.
Jared: That’s right, that’s right.
Jensen: That’s timing.
Question: Because you feel vulnerable and kind of at other people’s mercy -
Jared: Smushy?
Question: Mercy!
Jared: Oh, mercy! I thought you said smushy.
Question: So my question is to both of you, what was the worst or most uncomfortable tied up situation - on set.
Jared: Thank you for clarifying. Because I have some stories.
Jensen: Favorite tied up situations -
Question: Too much information.
Jensen: On set. That’s great.
Jared: Uhhh. Uhhh. To be honest, the - in my opinion, the most uncomfortable situation being tied up on set? Were not when we were actually tied up, but it was when we had to pretend for many seasons [Jensen nods] it was like the demon does this [holds out spread hand] and you have to pretend to [imitates being stuck back against wall]. And so I think at first we were just trying to kind of act like, ‘How would it feel to be supernaturally pressed against a wall?’ And invariably, you know, you film - so for an episode of television, you film it, say, in October and it airs in January. And so you film another one in November, December and you’re tied up and then in January, you watch what you did in October and it’s like, oh, the [holds up hand again] ghost pushed you against the wall and it airs and you look like this [does much more unflattering impression of being squished to a wall, with exaggeratedly distorted facial expression]. Like twelve chins? So, like, okay, I gotta change that, 'cause this is - I’m gonna vomit. But it was more when there were actual ropes around, it felt alright. it was easy to kinda like get into character and get the timing of the scene and the sequence, but it was more the [finger quotes] invisible -
Jensen: It’s also exhausting, too.
Jared: Yeah. [nods]
Jensen: Because when you’re doing it yourself and you’re pressing yourself up against the wall, and they yell action? You kind of hold your breath and tighten everything, you’re like [pained noise] and doing that over and over and over again for, like, minutes at a time? Is not fun. It’s like this -
Jared: It’s like hyperventilating. [breathes exaggeratedly]
Jensen: Yeah, you’re hyperventilating and then you’re straining and you’re [pained noises] ugh, like I’m gonna pop a blood vessel. And that was not - that was not fun. I will say that, aside from that, which happened quite often on Supernatural? I was kind of tied down or locked down on The Boys a few times that was not fun. The one where the Russians have me in captivity and I’m tied down to like a table, and they’re trying to see what can hurt Soldier Boy. And so I’ve got like - like on Supernatural, we were pretty good friends with the props department. So Robin would tie us up very loosely to where when they yelled cut, we would just, you know [both mime shaking off restraints easily], get out of our ties. And if we’ve got ties around our ankles or were tied to a chair, like when demon!Dean kind of thing? They yell cut and I would just wiggle and just, you know, [mimes getting out of restraints again] walk away. On The Boys? I wasn’t as friendly with them, and - You know, we didn’t know each other that well. So they were really, like, locked me in to this table. And there was - they were trying these different items to see how - so one of the items, they put like an AK-47 in my mouth. That - even though I knew it was a fake gun? That didn’t feel good. And then to top that, which I don’t know how you do, but you can [Jared laughs] - when you have a skill saw and it was running, but they just removed the blade? And it was like [makes saw noise and mimes moving saw towards Jared] and I was like, [Jared shakes his head] 'I don’t like it! I don’t like it! I don’t like it!’ And I couldn’t move! And so, yeah, that’s - you feel pretty vulnerable. [Jared, subvocally: Yeah.] Not nearly as vulnerable as coming out of the cage completely naked in front of an entire new crew and new cast. Welcome to The Boys!

sfortunatamente oggi abbiamo una brutta notizia riguardo a uno dei nostri ospiti speciali.
Gli impegni di Karl sono cambiati e purtroppo non potrà essere con noi il prossimo giugno. Si tratta di una notizia molto triste per tutti ma sappiamo che situazioni inaspettate possono farsi avanti in qualsiasi momento, quindi non possiamo che capire e augurare a Karl tutto il meglio.
